Welcome to Picnic Outing, a new event that showcased the talents of 12 young creative photographers. Curated by a team of photographers and students at Picnic, this exhibition provides emerging talent with a unique opportunity to present their work in a public space.
Through a social media call-out in August 2024, photographers under 30 were invited to make submissions that visually reflect on personal and collective experiences of change. Our final selection has resulted in a thought-provoking collection of photo essays that explore the shifting sands of our contemporary lives. From personal reflections on grief, growing up, liberation, sexuality, mental health and emigration to changing perceptions of the natural world, history and reality, this work demonstrates a dazzling mix of creativity, skill and sensitivity.
